Superstar Rajinikanth, a retired prison warden named Muthuvel Pandiyan, is leading a peaceful life, making YouTube videos with his adorable grandson, doing grocery shopping, and handling daily household tasks. His son, a police officer (Vasanth Ravi), goes missing while chasing down a gang of artifact thieves. When the devastating news of his son's demise arrives, Muthuvel's wife (Ramya Krishnan) blames his honorable upbringing for the tragedy. Heartbroken and seeking justice, Muthuvel sets out to avenge his son's untimely death.
The first 40 minutes are slower, not quite the grand entrance Rajinikanth is known for. Instead, director Nelson adopts a different approach, which might take a moment for Rajinikanth fans to adjust to. But don't worry, the excitement picks up after the interval, and the second half has some pulse-pounding moments that make up for the slower start.
Director Nelson, who last brought us "Beast," delivers his trademark style with a mix of dark humor in the first half.
