Jailer Movie Review - Superstar Rajinikanth complete enetrtainer

Superstar Rajinikanth, a retired prison warden named Muthuvel Pandiyan, is leading a peaceful life, making YouTube videos with his adorable grandson, doing grocery shopping, and handling daily household tasks. His son, a police officer (Vasanth Ravi), goes missing while chasing down a gang of artifact thieves. When the devastating news of his son's demise arrives, Muthuvel's wife (Ramya Krishnan) blames his honorable upbringing for the tragedy. Heartbroken and seeking justice, Muthuvel sets out to avenge his son's untimely death.

The first 40 minutes are slower, not quite the grand entrance Rajinikanth is known for. Instead, director Nelson adopts a different approach, which might take a moment for Rajinikanth fans to adjust to. But don't worry, the excitement picks up after the interval, and the second half has some pulse-pounding moments that make up for the slower start.

Director Nelson, who last brought us "Beast," delivers his trademark style with a mix of dark humor in the first half. The humorous exchanges between Yogi Babu and Rajinikanth keep the first half engaging. The second half introduces more action and intensity, especially when we glimpse into Muthuvel's past. However, the momentum begins to dwindle, leading to a prolonged and somewhat disappointing climax. Now, let's talk about the film's logic – or lack thereof. Just like many of Rajinikanth's previous movies, this one doesn't always follow the rules of reality. The dark comedy lands well if you're familiar with the original Tamil language and Nelson's previous works.

Keep an eye out for appearances by stars like Shivarajkumar, Mohanlal, Jackie Shroff, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sunil, and Kishore, which definitely adds to the star-studded charm. The climax, featuring Shivarajkumar and Mohanlal, brings the much-needed drama and energy.

Rajinikanth isn't just a hero; he's a superstar, and this movie portrays exactly that. Fans will relish the classic Rajinikanth moments that make them want to whistle with excitement. However, the film fails to make emotional connection between father and son, even though it's at the core of the story. While it's clear they share a close bond, we don't witness many touching moments between them. It's a letdown to see an accomplished actress like Ramya Krishnan with limited dialogue and emotion in the film. Vasanth Ravi maintains a single expression throughout. On the positive side, Vinayakan delivers an impressive performance with his intense presence. The background score by composer Anirudh Ravichander adds to the film's overall impact, although the songs are somewhat average.

In a nutshell, "Jailer" is a Rajinikanth show that showcases his signature charisma and action-packed style. It might take a moment to adjust to the movie's pace, but the second half brings the excitement fans crave. Just be ready for a bit of illogical fun and some lost-in-translation humor if you're not watching in Tamil. And remember, the real drama comes to life in the climax with the star-studded cast.
